Kirkland Carden, Partner
Prior to launching Blue Tier Residential, Kirkland spent the past decade volunteering as a member of the Duluth Zoning Board of Appeals, Duluth Citizens Budget Advisory Committee, Rainbow Village Millennials Advisory Panel, Gwinnett 101, and the Duluth Fall Festival. He has served on the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners since 2020.

Kirkland has been active in local governments since he was 22. At 29, he was elected to the Duluth City Council, becoming the city’s first millennial and African-American council member in the process. In 2019, the Georgia Municipal Association named him to its inaugural cohort of the 20 Under 40 Focus Group.
Kirkland worked five years at the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he assisted state and local governments in developing, maintaining and implementing transportation plans, budget oversight and compliance with local land use and zoning ordinances.
An Ohio native, Kirkland has resided in Duluth since 2004. He graduated from Duluth High in 2007 and earned a political science degree from Georgia State University. In his junior year at Georgia State, he served as a legislative aide to Georgia Senate Minority Leader Steve Henson (D - Tucker).
Upon graduating college, Kirkland worked as an Urban Planning Technician at the Jacobs Engineering Group.
